Brunch at Ladurée SoHo by Invitation of the French Embassy

Alban Muller is a French skincare company based in Paris that is the perfect marriage of my two loves: The French lifestyle and supporting sustainable, natural skincare. Depending on how long you've been following my work, my life often revolves around French culture; I lived in Rennes and Paris four years ago and graduated with a degree in French. While I have always prioritized the condition of my skin, my love for skincare began while I was living in Chicago in my early 20's, when I read a few articles about how essential it is to prevent skin damage rather than attempt to reverse it with products. At the time, I was also embracing a vegetarian lifestyle and began looking critically at the ingredients of everything I was consuming and using, including my skincare routine. The issue I found, and continue to find, is that an item claiming to be 'natural' or organic is not mutually exclusive to what is good for my skin. The standards of the US also have a tendency to be relaxed when it comes to what qualifies as 'natural' and educating myself with where something comes from and how it is created has become top priority.

During a cozy brunch at Ladurée Soho, I was able to speak with the founder of Alban Muller, an award winning skincare company, over coffee and toast with Alban himself. Founded in 1978, the company of Alban Muller has established the answers to the essential skincare questions: Are the ingredients safe and friendly to the earth? Do they use any synthetic ingredients? Can I afford to maintain this? And most importantly, does it feel good on my skin? Often times I've been enticed by the packaging of a skincare product and later felt the moisturizer/cleanser/night cream was incredibly greasy or the fragrance was overwhelming. The purpose of any skincare line should be to bring out the natural beauty of your face and effectively clean your skin. Alban Muller does both. The extraction process alone of their sunflower seed oil is far and above the standard of most US skincare items. Often times there is a synthetic complex integrated into skincare products, compromising natural qualities for the sake of mass quantities. Made with plant based ingredients and fragrances evoked in the most natural way, I've been using their skincare line religiously since.
